Constructing a new Water TowerConstructing a new Water Tower

Description: As part of the revitalization of the OSU Water Treatment Plant, one of the key components is the new 500,000 gallon water storage tower. Last winter, new water lines were installed to service the tower, and the foundation was poured. This week, Maguire Iron, Inc., of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has started to put together the large steel panels that make up the tower. The dozens of large steel panels delivered from the factory will be welded together into four major parts. Once they are ready, a 500 ton crane will hoist the stem, bowl bottom, and bowl top into place.
